Seeing the Unseen: Science in the Everyday Exhibition

Step inside the Biggar Museum Gallery this September to experience a vibrant celebration of creativity, discovery, and imagination.

Science in Everyday Life: A community-wide photographic exploration revealing the hidden physics, biology, and chemistry in our daily routines—from frost patterns and light refraction to garden ecosystems and local geology.

Visitors during festival week are invited to take part in the People’s Choice Award by voting for their favourite artwork and photograph. Come celebrate the talents of our local community, and see the world around you through a fresh, scientific lens!

COMMUNITY PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION: Science in Everyday Life

Admission & Entry: Free

As part of the Biggar Science Festival 2026, we are inviting photographers of all ages and experience levels across the local community to capture the hidden science all around us!

From the physics of light refraction in a rain droplet to the geometry of frost on a window, the chemistry of baking, or the biology in your garden—we want to see how you view “Science in Everyday Life.”

Categories
🧒 Junior: Under 12s

🧑 Youth: Ages 12–18

🧔 Adult / Community: 19+

How to Enter
Take a Photo: Capture an image using a phone, camera, or tablet that highlights a scientific moment, pattern, or process in your daily routine, home, or outdoor landscape.

Add a Caption: Include a photo title and a brief 1–2 sentence caption explaining the “everyday science” shown in your picture.

Submit: Send your high-resolution digital image to biggarscience@gmail.com along with your name, age category, and contact details.

Prizes & Gallery Showcase
Exhibition Feature: Shortlisted photographs will be printed and mounted in a special two-week public exhibition at the Biggar Museum Gallery this September!

Prizes: Winners in each category will receive book tokens and canvas prints of their photos.

People’s Choice Award: Festival visitors will vote for their favorite community photograph during festival week!

Submission Deadline: 2nd September 2026 at 5pm
